The Energy Center at the Decorah Community Education and Arts Center would serve the mission of the Decorah Community Center by using education, demonstration, direct assistance, and partnerships to reduce energy costs through conservation, energy efficiency and generation of local renewable sources of energy. The proposal submitted by Andrew Johnson suggests the following possible goals: |
| • To partner with Decorah Community Education and Arts Center in support of science and mathematics curricula. • To establish a resource center and staff for students, parents, and public for hands-on learning focusing on energy, people, and the natural world. • To partner with local companies to display conservation and efficiency technologies in building construction and renovation. • To showcase a variety of methods, materials, and technologies as they are employed during the renovation of the building. • To partner with the Decorah community and Winneshiek County to reap economic benefits through energy conservation by local institutions. |
